We are kicking off creative highlights with DMV’s very own Esosa aka Sosa. Sosa is a 20-year-old Nigerian-American dancer from Montgomery County, MD. Though dancing since age 7, Sosa found her love for the stage in high school where she flaunted her self-taught skills by auditioning and landing spots in multiple dance productions, including the school’s Latin dance team. By the end of her high school career, she was responsible for choreographing and producing her own pieces. We STAN a self-taught leader! In addition to dancing at school, Sosa would upload weekly dance videos to Instagram as a creative outlet, this series was called “Sosa Fridays”.

After high school, at 18, Sosa went on to join the U.S Army. So make sure y’all thank her for her service. However, her passion for dance didn’t die there. While stationed overseas Sosa continued to post her dance videos on social media to share with world. Sosa even began posting videos while in uniform, which is when she began to gain recognition. Sosa’s video views and followers started to grow rapidly. Sosa continues to post videos of her afrobeat, hip-hop, and Latin dance routines for her followers to enjoy.

I think we can all learn from Sosa in that persistence and dedication will definitely get you places. Sosa’s dancing has landed her great opportunities, like her ambassador position at fashion nova, and with her persistence we are excited to see where else she will get. Thanks for reading!
