I am one of the few that the government considers an "essential worker." But can we all agree this pandemic clearly shows who our real essential workers are? The ones who don't have a degree and are being paid an unlivable minimum wage. I have been working full-time ever since COVID-19 was announced a global pandemic. I work in healthcare, so I knew what I was signing up for. But when something of this magnitude happens it catches you by surprise. Sometimes it is a little difficult to take a positive approach to everything that is happening because you hear and see firsthand what is going on with this infectious disease and what it's doing to the people around you. My job works very closely with the CDC, so we get daily updates about what is happening and what protocols are being taken. For my people still working during this craziness, please be mindful to constantly wash your hands. When you get home, change out of your clothes immediately and throw them in the wash and take a shower. I have a mother who fits the description of someone who would suffer the complications of COVID-19 perfectly, so if you're not doing it for yourself do it for the loved ones you live with.

I think some things that have helped me keep my sanity working full-time during all of this is MINDFULNESS. Even if I don't have 30 minutes to meditate, I'll take five minutes of my lunch break to sit in a quiet room and take a deep breath. Meditation is what you make it, you can meditate in the shower, you can even do it in the car on the way to work. Having to be inside and away from people has really shown people how addicted they are to be feeling “busy”. Let's use this time for self-care and get to know ourselves a little more.

Can you imagine life... without MUSIC? I think it's amazing how all of these EDM DJ's have been creating live sets for us to chill out and vibe to. I still have hope that festival season isn't completely cancelled, at least our August- December festivals. Since we can't attend festivals now, I watch old sets on YouTube and have a little rave in my room. That, or play music on blast through my headphones to dance my ass off. Both are a good way to relieve some stress and forget of all the information you've been given daily. I've linked some of my favorite sets that I've been listening to these last couple of days. Enjoy!

I just want to end this by saying that it's OKAY to be scared. Our lives have changed drastically within days. The uncertainty is bound to cause us anxiety and doubt. Fortunately, there are some things to keep our minds preoccupied. I think a lot of us also have to be very careful of where we get our news information from and how much we are keeping ourselves updated. It is good to be informed but it's also OK to take the time to focus that energy into something else. As we all know stress isn't good for your immune system, and our immune system is what’s currently on the line. The quicker we take the precautions needed and keep our asses inside the faster we can stop this spread and get our lives back. Stay aware, be positive, and stay in!
